17-year-old Carlos Alcaraz got off to an impressive start in Marveja, Spain, with a 2-0 set win over Nikola Milojevic. The day’s results and tomorrow’s schedule.
Alcaraz defeated Milojevic 7-6 (3), 6-3 after 1 hour and 38 minutes of play at the Andalucia Open, getting off to an impressive start in his home tournament.
The 17-year-old Spaniard, who received a wild card from the organizers, celebrated his first tour-level victory in 2 months, since he qualified for the second round of the Australian Open.
In the 2nd round he will face veteran Feliciano Lopez, a player who is 22 years his senior and started his career 6 years before Alcaraz was born! However, the 39-year-old “Feli” continues to compete at the highest level and today he beat Taro Daniel 6-4, 6-4.
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who is ranked No.5 and had to come back from a set down to defeat Damir Dzumhur 6-7 (1), 6-2, 6-2.
In the second round he will face Ilya Ivashka, who defeated Pedro Martinez 6-3, 7-6 (2). Finally, Jaume Munar eliminated Henri Laaksonen 6-4, 6-1 and will play in the round of 16 against No.2 seed Fabio Fognini in the Italian’s tournament debut.
